Subject: Americium 241, from skoke detectors to Tchernobyl.

A special thank you to the biélorusse journal.

In 1978 when i was adjusting a smoke détector in the nuclear
station where i was working as radioprotection technician, that was the first time that i was seeing one of those modern détecting instruments.

What i did not know at this moment was that the heart of it was a tiny piece of radioactive material that was accumulating in the reactor at the same time i was adjusting this curious devise.

Twenty years ago we did not realy understood what we were doing in nuclear, except that it was a science so out of this world that we needed to try it.

We needed to know what was uranium 235 and how fission occured, and all the systems that regulated this fission.

We did not care at our collegue that were being operated in the back, in the kidney, or elsewhere on their body.
For the doctors, it was medecine as usual even if they did not understood a word on trusmutation or daughter products.

If we were asking question on our security we were disturbing our directors or even our syndical union that
in this new science seems they wanted to be first to celebrate the act.

When i became sick, it started by a never ending flu that incorporated all organs, specialy the digestive one. During this period, all of the meals i was taking tasted metal. I was always feeling dizzy, i had one side of the nose nearly
completely blocked and was always tring to push air out. A friend had the same problem for some time and we used to call him " sniffer ", not knowing at this time what was happening. An other employe had a sac on his side where
all shit was going and i imagine he, like me had to pass the
complete medical that needed no special health problems.
An other one was receiving dialysis each week or so. I was very tired and the fact i was always having a new sickness
adding, i was effraid telling the doctors about, because i was sure i would be reducalised at best.

One day my boss putted his head on the railroad track, one way to get rid of some people that were thinking he was creasy, i think. This suicide was a warning sign for me that something terribly wrong was taking place. This man had the responsability of all électronic and detecting devices in this experimental station we were testing in Quebec.

Speaking of all other sickness that got me would put you in a situation where you would not beleive me. Just remember that it seems to have all started by a vision that became
unclear or double. All skematics designs i could not read those anymore. I had migraines,or big headaches all the time, and me that had always loved to be irradiated by the sun in the pass, could not stand anymore of it. It was like i had in a short time, absorbed so mush artificial sunlight from all garbages around the station, that my body was telling me he could not take anymore. Of course this discour for a medecine man is more of the imagination of a deranged person, and some of the hippocratic oath that at my time did not wanted to learn new ways of doing their job have still today friends that wold act this way to.

I imagine what it is for a doctor that is one of a kind of the human and honest person, to be a prisonner of a system that does not seems to understand what kind of a trouble they are now in.

Being now a politician as my father was, i will take all my experience and put it to the service of people as M. Yuri, because he is becoming for me more important than an other Yuri that reached space forthy years ago, even if i am a vacuum technician and creasy about space and technology, it seems to me more important now to help with my experience
on americium 241 the people that are now swimming in it.

I can assure you from all my tests with this transsuranian isotope, that it is so of the ionising kind of killer that i would stay far from a few microcuries of it as the constructors of smoke detectors finally understood.

I would very mush have loved to be a student of M. Yuri
Bandazhevsky and would as i am being now candidate for mayor of a town in Quebec, share all what i know with him.

If you have the least respect for all his work that i'm sure you know he is right about, you come to my email or on the forum i'm now listed and tell me your point of vue.

I am not wasting my time trying to justified myself and my findings, i am just a technician after all.

There will not be many persons like M. Bandazhevsky and the team of doctors he has raised to radioperfection, we must say, technician that is, that will may be save this world from the worst ennemy wich i call ""indifference or banality ", so give them peace of chance as would say John Lennon.

My english is not that good but who cares about language in a situation like this.


There will be soon a forum where you will learn how to make a simple detector to look for alpha emitter and this will be my present for all people who need it. It is made of a simple CD4011 and a battery. It will detect less than a microcurie, but if you can make it more sensible, go ahead!
