Multimap.com has some simple street maps of all the villages of Europe (including Ukraine)! The street names are not displayed however and neither are landmarks such as the V.I. Lenin power plant.

From what I can gather, visiting for a short time is perfectly safe. One day there would probably expose you to radiation that you would normally experience over the course of a year. I'd take radiation measurement instruments along to be absolutely safe as one could easily encounter highly contaminated hot spots that should be avoided. Plants and trees still grow there, but I would NOT eat anything from there. I'd be sure to bring my own clean food and eat only in sterilized rooms or areas. No picnics!
