We were stationed in Bindlach (near Bayreuth), Germany at the time of the Chernobyl accident. I too have hypothyroidism. I always thought it was so strange, because no one else in my family (parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, etc) have had it. I happened to watch a show on the History Channel about Chernobyl and realized that thyroid problems are common with people who have had radiation exposure. I am also concerned that my children (who have always been healthy)could eventually have somekind of health problem associated with Chernobyl.
