I like many of you was about 8 or 9 years old and stationed in Germany with my parents when Chernobyl blew. I am now 27 and living with many mysterious illnesses. The worst of which is Type 1 Diabetes which didn't show up until I was 21 and the lack of function of my right kidney. With extensive family research and the help of a doctor it is believed but unprovable that my problems are due to the exposure suffered from radiation. I don't know that this information helps but that is what I have been told. I also know that it affected children and infants worse than adults.
