"No Max. Its not you at all. Its just that...no i shouldn't burden you with my problems."

Max was grateful she felt that way- yes, he was a bit curious, but right now he wasn't in in the right frame of mind to play the Agony Aunt. He relaxed his arm a little when she leaned her head against his chest. And then she thanked him, and he gave a small smirk at himself. Thanks for what? Whenever he'd tried to get the men way from Midori they'd merely swatted him out of the way like a fly, and when he finally got the chance for a "come back", so to speak, he'd fired the gun and missed. How embarassing. Well, he hadn't missed entirely, but he'd been aiming for the man's back.

"I'm sorry I'm crying all over you."

"Don't worry 'bout it." Max looked down as she grabbed his hand, but glanced up sharply as the wind picked up again, violently throwing the wooden window shutters of one of the apartments above them shut before slowly pulling them open again with a creak. He couldn't bother guessing the time, but he figured it was well past twelve o'clock. Relatively early on a normal day, but thus far the day had been anything but, and only now that he was still and not doing much did he feel the biting chill in the air again.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah." he swallowed. No, not really. Three days without sleep had made him exhausted, everything hurt and breathing was painful. This was the second night in a row of getting his ass kicked. "I'm getting pretty good at this." he thought ruefully. He looked down at her, not really sure what to make of it all, and another gust of wind blew past them as if waiting for a response. Max unzipped his hoodie, took it off and draped it around Midori's shoulders. Her clothes were torn and it was cold, and so, well, she probably needed it more than he did. He looked down at himself and noticed with disdain the small fleck of blood on the front of his t-shirt, it had either come from the pub the night before or tonight. As long as it was his and not somebody else's, he chose to ignore it. "I think I oughta get you home, or something, if you're ready. Can you stand?"
