Laurie would have been fine with hiding out in the Audi all night, still to shocked over the whole situation, and afraid she might still be dreaming. She’d imagined him coming back before, often, but never in all her dreams had his eyes glistened like they did now and even though she recalled his kisses, the one she’d just shared was ten times what she remembered. This was her fiancée, her love, her Toby. He was back.

She should’ve known as soon as the idea was brought up that going back to the house they’d shared might be a little morbid in retrospect, but she’d not had any other choice. The motel was a mess and she didn’t feel like hunting down the landlord of the apartments this late in the evening. So she’d decided to risk the hauntings and head home only the ghosts had come to her instead.

”Food it is.” Turning the wheel and maneuvering the car back down the road they’d come, Laurie Ann almost giggled at his worry over Angelina flipping out. ”I have a feeling she got to do that on someone else already…” the question was had she gotten it out of her system yet? Laurie figured even if she hadn’t that Angelina was always one to bottle her true emotions till she felt comfortable showing them, it was likely she’d say nothing of her exchange with Stan, just like she’d said nothing to Laurie Ann when the warehouse and barn had gone up in flames. Always protecting others, that’s what the brunette woman seemed to do.
