Subject: I think an aggressive rebuild is the best kind

It's worked for me in the past, for coaches who are in it for the long haul you can make an amazing team who all peak at the same time and set you up for a dynasty.

Better than doing a North Melbourne and hovering around 8th for 20 years then running out of talent/trade bait and needing compensation picks from the AFL!

We have had a very, very dominant team over the last 5-6 years I have been in the comp. At times averaging 150-200 points a game more than the second best team over the H/A season. I think we're much better off with 4-5 teams in the running, 4-5 teams in the mid pack and 4-5 teams rebuilding. Keeps trades active and engaging, also means that the mid pack teams at some point will pull the trigger and go all out and join the top ranks - or get in the mixer for the young kids.

To be honest, I think the league is currently the healthiest it's been since I joined. So much of the drama has been cut out, a good bunch of committed blokes, lively trade and draft periods. There are still areas for improvement but I am enjoying the way the league is heading personally.

I have some criteria I use in the leagues I moderate for compensation picks if people would like to see them, takes in to account both new coaches and teams stuck in a rut.
