Subject: Off-Season Timings / Notes

Off-Season Timings

AFL National Draft = NOV 24-25
AFL Pre-Season & Rookie Draft = NOV 26
SL List Lodgement 1 deadline = NOV 26*
SL National Draft = NOV 27*
SL List Lodgement 2 deadline = Early DEC (when draft completes) - All SL clubs should have a 50 man squad.
SL Quiet Time = Early DEC - End of FEB - Grab a beer, kick back and watch some Cricket.
AFL SPP = DEC - MAR
SL Team Balance Submission (sheet locked & for review) = MAR 1**
SL PS Trade Window = MAR 1 - 11
SL PS Draft = MAR 12
2022 AFL & SL H&A season kicks off = Mid-MAR


*Coaches are able to lodge their lists (INS/OUTS/Number of picks required) prior to this date and start the draft early if they hold the next pick. There will be no pick timer until NOV 26 (when AFL drafts are completed)
**Gives us time to provide feedback before PSD. Key Position Players (KPD/KPF/SW/R) are locked as per Mod review in OCT (opportunity for review has been and gone, with some unsuccessful and others successful). New draftees will be the most flexible - so long as a player write-up suggests the player has played a prescribed role, it will be accepted.

Notes to consider:
1) Trading of 2021 ND, 2022 PSD, 2022 MSD, and 2022 ND picks will be allowed post-trade period closure right up to the completion of SL 2021 ND (Live Pick Trading is available)
2) SL lists can be lodged with players who are not on an AFL list (ie. like Mason Wood in 2020) if SL coach feels they may be taken via SPP, should the player not be picked up, the list spot can be filled via the SL PS Draft (there will be no early access to Free Agent pile, this is only reserved for early/unforeseen retirements).
3) We have already discussed potential rule changes with voting, as far as Mods see it, there are no open items - if anyone has any issues with how SL is tracking please raise it while we have most coaches active and can discuss in an open forum. We all deserve a break and hopefully can kick off the new 2022 season with some really positive energy!!
4) Fixtures will have the automated logic applied and sheets will be set-up over the quiet period by Mods. We notice a few coaches have leveraged Toms teamsheet format - Awesome work and keep the updates going, a little improvement every year goes a long way to keeping SL fun & competitive for all!!
