Trades:

In:
Alex Pearce as KPD insurance - 26yo hopefully can get back on the park
Bruins future 1st
Giants future 2nd

Out:
Nil

Minimal amount of trades done this year, but used a couple of the picks I had this year to secure additional 1st & 2nd round picks which will help the rebuild.

Draft:

Pick 1 - Nick Daicos. There was no doubt who I was picking at #1. Would have locked it in months ago if I could have. Will probably get games early into

Pick 11 - Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera. Silky skills, massive upside. Probably ends up on a wing or half back which will definitely help us with team balance. Was tossing up between him & Josh Sinn, after having hopes that Gibcus or Rachele would slide... wasn't to be. Either way excited to have Wanganeen-Milera on board!

Pick 15 - Matthew Johnson. Originally ranked in my top 10, was a bit thrown back though when he missed out on being drafted in the first round. I was a bit worried at the time this was a reach, but feeling pretty good about it now.

Pick 33 - Connor Macdonald. This was a tough one, because after taking 3 mids, I hesitated because there were a couple of small/med forwards available that were a better fit for my list (Motlop/Hobbs/Lohmann). In the end I couldn't pass up on the quality of Macdonald here. Knows how to find the footy & think the Hawks is a perfect destination for him.

Pick 40 - Jesse Motlop. Really happy he was still available at 40. Small fwd that could slot into Carlton's lineup early. Natural footballer, great skills & has played senior WAFL.

Pick 46 - Eric Benning. After taking 5 smalls it was time to go big and was pleased a couple of options were on the board. Benning is a raw KPF/ruck prospect who could take a bit of time, but has a ton of upside.

Pick 53 - Oscar Adams. KPD is still a position in need of work, so happy to take a gamble on Adams here. Athletic key defender who has spent time in the ruck.

After getting some young talls in recent drafts (Thilthorpe/Georgiades/Jones etc) was important that we brought in some mids to strengthen that part of the ground for the Magpies.

Still some work to go on the list, but having 2x1st & 2x2nd picks in next year's draft is a good position to be in.

Looking forward to seeing the new young Magpies hit the park next season.
