Mixed Draft for the Roos..

Pick 4 - Sam Darcy….Clear best 4 in this years draft and with 6 and 9, I needed to get into that top 4. Happy to get the best tall and hopefully he can develop and be the Dogs Ruck going forward and therefore the Roos. A 206cm player that is so mobile could be a game changer in a few years.

Pick 6 - Traded. I rated the top 4, then Ward, then about 6 others in a third tier. When Ward went at #5, a trade was a good result to get another first rounder next year, which is arguably a better first round than this year in talent outside this years top 4. Also got me a top 20 pick which was useful.

Pick 25 - Tom Brown - perfect replacement for Hoult at Richmond. Half back flankers do well in SuperCoach at the Tiges. Think Short and Houli, so with Hardwick a good mentor from the half back club, hopefully Tommy can develop quickly.

Pick 26 - Arlo Draper - rated him in the top 15, rapt my team Collingwood got him. So no brainer at this pick. Thought about Zac Taylor especially at the Crows getting early opportunities, but think of Draper the better all round talent. Also considered Roberts from the Swans.

Pick 39 - Jack Williams - rapt to get another key forward. 3rd best after Darcy and Amiss. Think Kennedy is on his last legs and Darling in his twilight maybe Williams can team up with Allen. Actually hoped Collingwood would pick this kid, but Hine doesn’t like to pick key position players 😂. Was hoping Uwland would slip, but obviously other coaches in this league do their research.

Pick 51 - Kai Lohmann.- gutted that my 2 selections here Solingo and Warner literally went at 49 and 50. One thing the Roos don’t need is small forwards, but Brissy picked this guy on the first night, so at pick 51..he’s worth a punt.

Pick 52 - Hugh Jackson - Massive numbers in junior footy. Uses it well. Gone to a good team in Port, but maybe when Boak retires a few midfield spots open up. Considered Lord, but Roos have plenty of back flankers.

Pick 62 - Jase Burgoyne - surely one of their kids gets some of the genes. Thought he was the best out of Archer and Wowodein.

Pick 68 - Miller Bergman - actually forgot about him and may have taken him earlier. Happy to take someone at the Roos late and they have plenty of opportunities for kids.

Overall I rate the draft as a B+
Lost Reid from the Dons who I think will be solid, but Darcy has potential to be elite so it was a non brainer. Also think a potential top 5 draft pick in 2022 will further strengthen the rebuild of the Roos.
