In reply to: Ian 's message, "2021 Trade & Draft Wrap" on 26/11/21 11:59am

After consultation, the Bruins have decided to go for one last shot at the flag. They made probably their biggest list change since their inception back in 2014.

They said goodbye to Premiership hero Rockliff who retired and Carlisle. But the biggest blow wasn't so much the trading, but glut of AFL delisted players.

In trades, Bruins were ruthless. They traded Will Drew (again) alongside Honey, Lynch, Farrar, Tuohy, Fiorini, Bramble, Weightman, Hayward and Hunt and traded a glut of picks.

They brought in star studded firepower in: Robbie Tarrant, Steve May, Dustin Martin, Jarman Impey, Tom Hickey and bolstered their depth with Crozier (hoping he gets to his best), Jonas, Wilkie, Jake Kelly (welcome back), AMT and future picks to help with any rebuild next year.

The biggest concern is with gun recruits Ben Cunnington and AMT. Cunnington's occurrence of a secondary cancer is not great news, but the clubs well wishes are with him in this time. AMT is battling mentally and reports are suggesting he is so far behind in fitness that he looks to have put on 10kg and came last in time trials. Again, the clubs thoughts are with him and hope he bounces back.

DRAFT

Our draft strategy was to make do with what the club had.

23 - RHETT BAZZO
Was always going to take Bazzo, Alleer or JVR. Bazzo being available is great as he has had experience playing against the Geelong VFL side and even kept JVR goaless in a game at TAC level. Will develop alongside Brand.

31 - Matt Roberts
Was hoping for Knevitt or Owens at this pick, but Roberts was a slider I was happy to take. The kid was a top 20 pick at the start of the year and hope he shows those skills early.

57 - Alastair Lord
Was one of many I was considering at this pick. Being informed that Knightmare had him around pick 23, was enough for me. Liked his pace and ability to evade tackles off the half back. Will give him time to develop.

67 - Jai Serong.
Took best available and hope he lives up like his brother.

69 - Taj Woewodin
Another roughie. Smashed trials. Hope he goes well.

73 - Patrick Voss
Like the look of this bloke. Taller and bigger than Baldwin. Looks a bull! Plays as a tall swing option. Again fills a Bruins need.

83 and 84 - Tunstill and Hamilton

Best available at this stage. Both look rough.
