Bombers
OUT:
Retired: J.Watts, H.Bennell
SL delisted: M.Wood, R.Knight, O.McDonald, T.Wooller, H.Jones
Trade Out: H.Young, B.Scott, H.Crozier, A.Sexton, E.Jeka
Trade In: C.Blakely, A.Francis, T.O’Brien, A.Bonar, J.Patton, J.Bell
Traded out a couple of guys I probably dindt intend too (Young/Scott), but got in a few targets I really liked. Picked up Blakely with the thought he would be on the move – so that might hurt as he seems out of favour at the dockers. Trading out Young ended up helping me get pick 1, so although it was a big price, happy with where it landed.

Pick 1: Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Ended up trading H.Young and a mix of picks to get Jamarra. Always wanted one of the ‘big 3’ forwards and when it ended up being a small slide on pick 13 to get it done, I decided it was worth it. Lets wait and see - similar to Rob’s dilemma I think any of the top 3 could end up the better player, hoping Jamarra with his skill set and swagger ends up the best though!
Others Considered: Logan McDonald

Pick 20: Luke Pedlar
Started with 16/17 which was at one stage 9 and before that 13… ended up turning all of those into 3 picks in the 20 to targe a couple of players. Pedlar was my second highest ranked at this pick, but thought he might get taken, and O’Driscoll (the other guy I was eyeing off) still probably a chance to be there at 27. Hes a tough inside mid who has had some injury problems. The crows took him at 11, and believe he has the traits to make it, so thought I would jump on board, and with their ageing/slow midfield hope he gets some early opportunities. Would have taken Finlay Macrae if I kept 16 so interested to see how he goes vs. Pedlar.

Pick 27: Nathan O’Driscoll
Happy he slid, as he is one I really wanted (had him ranked at 17), and was originally going to take him with the 16/17 picks before I made the trade. He is a tall, tough, tackling machine who is a bit of a work horse. Still needs to work on his disposal as he can be a bit untidy, especially in front of goal, but love his defensive work. Think he starts as a Back Flank/Wing before moving to the midfield once he develops a bit more.

Pick 28: Jake Bowey
Small – but very clean skills. After taking two more inside leaning guys in the last 2 picks, Bowey was to contrast this as an outside mid/HB. Pace and skills are good but at just 175cm, hoping he can make it at the next level, as that is a bit small for AFL standard.

Pick 47: Maurice Rioli
Again, slid down the order and picked up a future second in doing so. Had I kept 31 I would have drafted Connor Downie, so interested to see how he goes, but slipt down the order with the hope to still get my guy. Unfortunately, the Warriors snapped him at 43 (Eddie Ford). Went with a heart pick, and took Rioli – being an NT boy I have a vested interest in the kids from there and the Riolis! He isn’t as polished or progressed as Cyriol/Daniel were, but he can still do mecurial things, and his forward pressure and tackling is great. With a few seasons in the gym hope he can make something of it!

Pick 83: Sam Wicks
Dart board. Was hoping to get Markov as a HBF who should see game time or Tsapatolis as a back up Ruck with Soldo out, but he went a few picks earler. All of my kids from the draft were gone, so took the next best FA I had on my list. Not really sure but lets hope he continues his late season momentum and gets a few games.
