They are both good thoughts.

1) We could go with 4 key areas of EMG (DEF/FWD/MID/TALL) If you have a Mid/fwd, you can choose which emg category they sit within. That way you can ensure each cat has an emg cover. Question is then, can I have them 1st emg in both cats? what if I don't have a "TALL" emg, can my MID cat cover this? It's just a little messier than having a blanket rule.

PLUS

2) You could extend each category (or simply just a single "emergency" list) to name 10 emergencies... if you have them.

^ If coaches would prefer me to update "TEAM SUBMIT" sheets to allow 10 emgs, I'm happy to do so. Does not change the outcome of the ruling, I don't think. (and this might then suit D9s request for horizontal emg instead of vertical)

^ I'll call it out now, haven't got the stats... but I would be confident that its extremely rare to see more than 4 emergencies be required to cover your SL "late outs". The MEL/ESS game (along with this entire season) will rarely happen again and similar to a couple years back mods made it best 16 to ensure impacts were kept to a minimum across the board.
