Sexual Sin

Sexual immorality is rampant in today's world. It has become as the days of Noah that Christ warned us of in the Gospels. God hates sexual sin simply because he knows of the harm that it brings to those that practice it. He knows that sin leads to death. In Leviticus chapter 20 we get the understanding that in the Old Testament during the days of Moses when people committed sexual sins they were put to death. Yes the sentence was death. This was so that the people would not be polluted by the spreading of sexual sin. Sexual sin is like a disease that spreads. If God would have allowed this sin to spread than it would have ultimately wiped out His people because sin leads to death. When the days of grace came about through Jesus Christ, Jesus became the way for people to receive forgiveness of sins. No longer was there an instant death sentence put upon the people. Judgment has been reserved or held back to the end of time as we know it. In Hebrews 10:26-30 we see that this wonderful day of mercy and grace is not a free pass to continue in sin. The bible refers back to the days of Moses and lets us know that for those who reject Christ, the punishment will be far worse than it was in the time of Moses. So indeed we live in a glorious time of grace but one day the "grace period" will be up. This is not a time to continue in sin and to drown yourself in the lusts of this world. Many people are mislead into thinking that grace is an endless pass to sin freely but the bible warns against trampling on the grace of Christ. It warns that at some point there is no longer a sacrifice for sins because you have simply rejected the truth. Not that God cannot forgive you but that you have refused to accept it. The following are some scriptures on sexual impurity please read them.

1 Corinthians 6:13-20 13 "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food" --and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two shall become one flesh." 17 But he who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside the body; but the immoral man sins against his own body. 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Jude 1:5-7
5 Now I desire to remind you, though you were once for all fully informed, that he who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels that did not keep their own position but left their proper dwelling have been kept by him in eternal chains in the nether gloom until the judgment of the great day; 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
Colossians 3:5-6 5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:1-5
1 Finally, brethren, we beseech and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, just as you are doing, you do so more and more. 2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus. 3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each one of you know how to take a wife for himself in holiness and honor, 5 not in the passion of lust like heathen who do not know God
Galatians 5:19-21 19 Now the works of the flesh are plain: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, anger, selfishness, dissension, party spirit, 21 envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

There are many upon many of scriptures in the bible dealing with sexual impurity. As you continue throughout this website you will see others and how they relate to points being made. The sword of the Spirit is the way to overcome temptations of the flesh. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness he used the Word of God to ward off temptations. It is essential for people struggling with sexual sin to know and memorize the Word of God.
