Interesting thread. I too have never smoked and have no desire to. However, I like to see women and young girls smoking because it's sexy, and children exposed to tobacco smoke because it's good to hit back at the over-protection of kids these days. Obviously adult role models have the best chance of encouraging kids to smoke, but I see nothing strange in non-smokers wanting children to start. The good thing is that it's addictive, so if you can start them young they should be hooked. While it's true that there's a lot of anti-smoking propaganda on YouTube and other platforms there's also plenty of smoking fetish material there to show how glamorous it is. Paradoxically, the anti-smoking campaigns will probably encourage rebelliousness in many children, so in some cases a parent making a show of disapproval could actually help to send a young person on the path to addiction. And, yes, I really miss the sight of schoolgirls lighting up in the street after school. On the other hand there is a widely publicised 'problem' with schoolkids getting addicted to vapes, probably in greater numbers than have smoked cigarettes in recent decades, so full marks to the lovely tobacco companies for their unethical marketing strategies. Eleven years old is a bit late for an adult to start encourage a child to take up smoking as they are already pretty independent by then (but still susceptible to peer pressure from their own age group). Younger kids do what adults tell them, so that's another reason to start children smoking as young as possible.
