Yes, that seems to match what girls/women had said in the past. When I realised how tight back suspenders often were, I remember suggesting to my wife, when we were going on a long car journey, that undoing them might make her more comfortable. She said that not having them at all would be more comfortable but the girdle "wouldn't work" without them.
The only time she would sometimes undo her back suspenders was late in the evening when relaxing on the sofa, not needing to re-attach them before going to bed.
I first realised how tight - and uncomfortable - back suspenders must be when a girlfriend allowed me to feel under her dress. I hadn't realised that front suspenders on a suspender belt became loose and relaxed when sitting but the back ones became tight as they stretched to their limit. My girlfriend wore deep belts which had suspenders right at the back, rather than at the side and I remember remarking about how tight they were and how floppy the front ones were when she was sitting down. She agreed, but said she was used to it and preferred this to the longer side suspenders on a shorter belt which kept moving around as she walked and sat.
