U2 Returns to Etihad Stadium
Sunday 22 Aug 2010
One of the biggest bands in the world, U2, has announced it will play a concert at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday 1 December as part of the group's 360° Tour.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday 3 September through the Ticketmaster network.

10-time Grammy Award winner, JAY-Z, has been announced as the special guest and will perform on stage before U2.

Tickets will start at $39.90, with general admission floor tickets available at $99.90. Additional reserved seat tickets also are available, starting at $99.90.

Live National Global Touring and Michael Coppel has confirmed that the U2 360° tour includes events in Auckland (New Zealand), Sydney, Perth and Brisbane, as well as Etihad Stadium.

The Etihad Stadium concert will be the first of the Australian performances.

The centrepiece of the concert is an imposing 57 metre steel structure which rises high above the stage, known as 'The Claw'.

The U2 tour commenced in Turin, Italy this month and it takes in 17 cities including Moscow and Istanbul before winding up its European leg at the Rome Olympic Stadium on October 8.

By the time the tour reaches New Zealand and Australia, the U2 360° Tour will have been seen by more than 4 million fans.

In 2006 U2 played two shows at Etihad Stadium to more than 125,000 fans.

They are known as one of the best live acts in the world and with classics such as 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', 'Elevation', 'One' and 'Beautiful Day' they are sure to impress once again.

JAY-Z has not performed in Melbourne since 2006 and the 'Empire State of Mind' singer will be a welcome guest to the already unmissable show!
