I don't think you understood the comment that the mother made. A 14 equates to 3's. That is not acceptable on any level for a judge to give at a national pageant. Scores like that will destroy these young ladies. Usually on a scale of 1-10. Judges will give 6's to girls who are below average, 7's to those that are average, 8 to above average, 9's and above to exceptional. 3's are a slap in the face to this young lady who obviously has dedicated a ton of her valuable time giving back to others.

For instance the junior teen national queen this year had a 3.5/4.0 GPA and scored higher than girls with a 5.55/5.0 GPA. The young lady with a 5.55 was in all honors classes. Those scores just do not make sense to anyone. As a coach I would warn girls to look at the integrity of a system that would do this.
