Having just read your post, Mandi, it is a bit late for advice but the following might help for future reference:
1. They certainly hurt but probably not as much as some people claim.
2. As the biggest muscle in the body, the buttock is by far the least painful place to get any injections.
3. You could take something to read while awaiting and getting the shots to take your mind off them. In my youth I was told to take a deep breath, close my eyes and pinch my nose as a diversion when I felt the alcohol swab. Most important is to assume the required position before the injection is prepared so you can't see it because antibiotic injections are frighteningly large and look worse than they feel.
4. You might need one injection per day for a few days.
5. I usually bend over for injections but I have had them lying prone. Lying prone makes it easier to relax the muscle but also to tense-up, whereas bending over makes it difficult to tense so, if you can't relax, it is better to bend over. During my youth and adolescence I was afraid of buttock injections and had to bend over the receptionist's lap for them. I feared the embarrassment of her watching me get them in the bare bottom more than the pain but that was actually constructive because the embarrassment took my mind off the shots themselves.
6. Your panties should be pulled all the way down to expose your entire bottom but you shouldn't have to remove them entirely.
