 Extremely doubtful this ever happened. Penicillin is used as an antibiotic to cure a sickness, never as any kind of precaution to avoid it. If that were the case people would be getting penicillin shots all the time and nobody would get sick. Never happened.

Our Dr. was older and believed in the use of Penicillin as a precaution so we wouldn't get sick. Ever hear of Dentist giving Penicillin or antibiotic before a dental visit?

Whilst I have never heard of dentists giving antibiotic injections, I once had my dentist's nurse give me a pre-med shot in my bottom before a general anaesthetic.

That's incorrect. Penicillin is often used to prevent infections in people undergoing dental extractions or for people with Rheumatic Fever. I know, as I had to get monthly penicillin shots for Rheumatic Fever when I was a kid.

In the 60's Penicillin was used for everything. Its the only drug they had and they thought it would cure loads of things....
