B12 shots are best taken I.M. In the hip. Less pain & less soreness especially if you're getting them regularly. I'm sure nurses give these everyday.

My boyfriend gives me a B12 shot every morning and I always get them in my butt(hip) as they hurt less. In the arm they do hurt more.

Every morning? That's really very often. What's the reason for this.

I have pernicious anemia, low B12 and iron in my blood. My mother and four sisters have anemia and all take b12 shots.
In addition I get a vitamin B complex shot once a week and a iron shot monthly.

Sounds like you have a perpetually injection-sore bottom, Mandy!

That's a lot of shots Mandy.Do you get the Iron shots in your bottom and if so does it make it really sore. I use to get them and my butt was sore for 3or4 days.

Yes; always get my iron shots in my butt. They do sting and my butt is sore for a day or two. Shots don't bother me as I have a high tolerance for pain.

I get a B12 shot once every week and when I first heard about the horror stories of the stinging and the pain I was beginning to second think my decision. When I received my first B12 shot I never felt the needle stick and never had any discomfort or pain associated with the shot.

A 2 ml dose of cyanocobalamin once a week really helps my tinnitus. 25 gauge 1.5 inch, my wife gives a really good shot. Totally painless. Also an extra dose is useful for bursitis and gout. And for us mid-sixties vegans, frequent B12 shots are good, cheap, painless insurance.

I've often heard B-12 shots were in the hip/butt. I got mine the other day-upper arm, and for the price, I went to a pharmacy and bought a bottle of B-12 tablets. No pain in arm, hip or butt, and an awful lot less expensive.

Is everyone aware that B-12 comes in supplement tablets you can buy over the counter in the vitamin section of your local pharmacy thus avoiding painful shots?

Vitamin B-12 is best given by injection and B-12 shots don't hurt !!

I disagree. B-12 shots from what I have read on here are given with a 22 gauge needle in your butt, and that hurts! So it's best to take a Vitamin B-12 supplement tablet instead.
