When I was examined by my dad (he was the nurse) or by my pediatrician, I was fully dressed. First the doctor will check my pupils and throat, I was told to open my mouth. Then I was told to lie down, and just open one or two buttons from the shirt for auscultation. My dad or doctor put his hand into a shirt with a stethoscope or abdomen examination. After that, I was told to roll on my stomach to check my back. By then I must have been very tense, because after my back was auscultation, my doctor or dad would ask my mom to lower my pants, so I was bare bottom. And I must have known that I would be injected in my bum. I will start to cry, rebel, try to get off the table, kicking, I do anything to not to get injected.
If there was just my mom and dad (my dad who examined me), my mom will hold me in her laps. my feet was trap among hers, and I will bend so my bare bottom is accessible for the shot.
But, if my pediatrician who examined me, my father and some adult will come to the room and hold my legs, back, hands to keep me from rebelling. And my mom will help them too.
Then the doctor would wipe my bum with alcohol, and then the needle pierced my skin slowly. When the medicine is inserted, I will cry cry. Until the needle is pulled out of my bum and long afterward I still cried. My bum feels very sick and sore. My mother would hold me for sometimes while she massages the injection spot along the way home to the house for the medicine to spread.
