Well, I got to lie with my pants down again today. I have one miserable bottom!! I am still quite sore and bruised from Saturday's shot. I can take a lot of pain but this is excruciating. I had a very difficult time sitting at my desk when I got back to work, but I didn't want my coworkers to suspect I had just gotten a shot in the butt so I sat anyway with the help of Advil. I cannot wait to get home and ice my behind.

Just like last time the nurse came in several times to check my bottom but at least she covered my butt with a sheet in between checks. One time she left to get two colleagues so they could look at, feel and discuss my bottom too. It was explained to me that as part of a clinical trial they must monitor and record immediate injection site reactions and therefore are required to keep checking my bottom. It is still humiliating.

My next shot is scheduled for Friday. Both cheeks are wounded - where's she going to put it??! I just know I will scream if she sticks it in a bruise.

Hi again, Leah,

If you want to see the video I linked you to in the article, it is on YOU Tube under the title: Intramuscular Needle injections: Does size really matter?

Leah,
You say you got these injections in a clinical trial. I find it very unusual for those conducting the trial to have not told you what type medications you would be injected with. I mean, I'd think that if you were given something you were allergic to, you could have had some problems.

Were your vitals signs taken before and after these injections? I've had injections given at home by visiting nurses, but knew what I was getting and why, but anytime I had to receive these injections, before the injections, when my vitals were done, my temperature was always obtained rectally. The after portion was done the next day when a follow up for vitals was done. My temperature, monitored rectally was to see if I'd had a reaction that started me running a fever. Did you have rectal temperature readings taken during your trials?

Leah did you get another shot in your bottom today? What is the medicine they are giving you. If you don't mind how old are you and are you a thin or medium build?

Yes, worst one yet.

I do not know what drug I am being given. I will find out when the trial ends.  I only know by seeing the syringe that it is yellowish/green and 4cc.

I am 33 and small.

How many more? What illness do you have that is requiring this?

I will have three more for a total of six. Yesterday's shot didn't have to go into the bruise left by shot #1 as I feared. The nurse said she would give remaining shots below the previous ones to avoid that, and that there should be just enough room on my behind to complete the series, joking "any more than that would have to be continued on the next bottom!" Just as long as it is not my bottom!

The problem with getting injections low in the bottom is that they can leave you unable to sit down. I speak from experience!
