The disadvantage is that it is also easier to tense the muscle, thus making the injection more painful than necessary. Bending over prevents tensing the muscle but also makes it more difficult to relax. It defines the muscle better, enabling the nurse more easily to find the best site. The girls if they are thin I will have them lie flat and point their toes inward as it helps to relax the muscle. I usally will slap their cheek once and stick immediately. Their butt cheek is stinging from the bare hand slap and they normally do not feel the needle stick especially if it is a large needle. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
