Subject: Has Anyone Given In To Their Teenager When They Didn't Want A Penicillin Shot?

Hi,

I was wondering how many parents actually give in when their teenage son or daughter don't want a Penicillin shot and let them take pills instead?

I was always forced regardless of how loud I screamed. But it took several nurses and my mom to get me on the table and hold me down.

Knowing how difficult it can be, would many parents just give in and let them take pills?

Thanks

The first symptom of illness well into my teens was a sore throat. I wanted to take pills rather than the dread penicillin shot in my bottom but the sore throat prevented me from swallowing them. I vividly recall desperately but unsuccessfully trying to swallow a pill before inevitably being told to pull down my pants and bend over the receptionist's lap for a shot when visiting the doctor (or rolling over in bed for one when he visited me). I remember deeming the treatment as merely exchanging a sore throat for a sore bottom.
