- Simple Joys -- Kari, 14:18:37 07/12/04 Mon
Kari slipped to the bank of the river and peered about. She was alone, not only here but everywhere she went. It didn’t matter if she was surrounded by others or if she was by herself. She was always alone. Kari shook away her unusual melancholy and leaped into the shallow edge of the river. The water flew up in all directions with some of it beaded on her black and tan fur. Her golden eyes gleamed with merriment as she pranced through the shallows splashing up more water as she went. Life was just fine as long as she could find the simple joys within in it. She let that thought comfort her and forgot her sorrow in the river.

Eternal silence has not been broken yet by her sister's mindvoice, and so the white is left unaware of the reason for Erashun's and that red femme's sudden and violent departure. No scents penetrate the mass of scar tissue that blocks her nostrils, and blackened green eyes can tell her naught but that the two Shulans are gone and have left she and Ezythas alone.
Alone. A sign of acceptance? Or a disdainful, humiliating symbol of the sisters' inability to cause any damage?
Jiciri's lips curl into a raspy, quiet snarl, one side of her muzzle lower than the other because of a thick slab of scar tissue across that side of her snout. She is as healed as she will get, she feels, as her stomach becomes an empty, grinding pit and weariness plagues her very bones, the ex-warrior begins to realize how truly weak she is. Her balance destroyed. No senses of hearing or smell. Claws and blade shattered. Left longclaw, toe and all, sliced cleanly off. She cannot run without staggering, and she could never manage to hunt for herself.
Worthless.
A hiss escapes the once-proud, now-disfigured muzzle, long fangs glistening in the sunlight that reflects from the river's calmer pools. But she reaches out one forehand to nudge her sister's shoulder lightly, a questioning look too hard and calculating to be called curious on her warped features. She wants to know where the 'second and red went, and she tosses her snout silently towards the south--the direction they both galloped--to indicate such.
(...worthless...)

- Ah btsa... -- Erashun, 22:45:35 03/12/04 Fri
A scream of unimaginable anguish shreds the air, thin and shrill with distance, carried on weak winds from the northern reaches of the territory. It plunges with a razor-sharp edge into the soul of everyone who hears it, and the telltale signature voice is plain -- it's Atumi's cry.
Erashun's tuftless ears flare upwards and he half-turns to the north, a snarl ripped from his powerful jaws before his mind can quell his instincts. Li'fai... And in the next instants, he learns why his soul-brother has screamed. "Jysulehn. Go south -- there are swift beasts who wish our blood to stain our own lands. They are not of Wureshi's seed." The massive, clip-furred white swivels his body to face the sisters, ears falling flat against his skull as harsh reality overrules his morals. Neither of these two could possibly harm anyone, and the cubs have gone. [Slight PPing. Sorry. ~_^;;] "Stay here..." and then he pauses. He could add a threat, or a promise, but to do either would be to insult the sisters' very honor. "Stay here. Please, mri'kym, stay here."
Like li'tho, the pack second turns and races southwards.

- Return to the clearing.. -- Xenarsis .. Elygan and Nagyle .. Bhylek, 16:50:43 02/19/04 Thu
Xenarsis' sculpted muzzle dips in a brief nod towards Erashun. Her mixmatched eyes point in a different direction, nostrils flared as she brings in the scent of many more Korats. Gaze then flits to her mate, a smile dropping that almost vulpine maw and displaying even teeth. She sidles closer to Vyndiel and bumps her shoulder against his, wordlessly flicking large ears toward her hopeful destination. A kinked tail gives a few swishes, grey-brown stripes dancing over the shivering black pelt. Casual strides carry her through a shallow portion of the river, the water splashing up in her wake. Her measured gait takes her towards the Clearing, the few fish she'd caught impaled upon her tailblade.
Elygan would finish piling his fish upon the makeshift net of leaves and vines he'd woven with his brother. The darker tan rises onto his claws and catches a scent of many new Korats.. related, by the smell of it. His ears go back, a stony look upon features of various dusts and beiges. The emerald-eyed male bounces into a standing stance, ears canted slightly with confusion at Nagyle's icy features.. and then it snaps. A ache pools in Elygan's chest, but he knows not to hold down his favourite sibling. They exchange brotherly nuzzles, before Nagyle is gone, beyond the boundaries of Shula's pack. Elygan gazes after for a few long moments, but gathers his burden in jaws and tail and drags it off through the wood. Bhylek canters to help, though he's more of a hassle.. even so, the older tan is glad for the forehand of friendship extended by the scrawny white runt. Together, they set off in pursuit of the well-known glade.

Erashun rises to all fours, glancing once at Jysulehn's reflection in the river, rather than at the red herself. "Come with me. Atumi asks us to do something for him." His voice is bland and emotionless, a bit odd for the philosopher, and he raises his long, powerful muzzle to sniff the water-smelling winds. Once-tasseled ears flicking, he turns slightly and slips into a smooth, rolling stride. His silver eyes are shadowed as he pauses at the edge of the forest, then draws himself up into a proud posture to wait for a moment. He allowed his targets to near, to come within his keen sight, before speaking.
"Daughters of Wureshi, I am Erashun, pack second to Shula. What business do you have in these lands?"

Bhylek's straggly body splashes through his little corner of the river, chasing after shadows of colour and sparkles. He finds the experience enjoyable, but his feeble muscles soon give way to exhaustian, and the little white is force to clamber out and sprawl upon the sandy bank. He has a couple very dead fish that he'd caught, and plunks himself proudly next to them. Twisted eyes turn to watch the other Korats fishing.
The brothers tan had bounded off when Xenarsis and Vyndiel went to Erashun. Elygan gets distracted often and ends up just splashing after his twin, though Nagyle's cool passiveness and refusal to cub around turns the flirt off from his game. The two have dropped a good many fish upon the bank before realizing that they have no easy means of transporting them. The lighter male gives a small grumble, and bounds upward into the grass, nudging

- ((ghost bared of whispy edges to hide sharp corners)) -- Erashun, 10:28:45 11/02/03 Sun
The white, pelt newly trimmed to a few inches in length, lopes smoothly towards the river, tufted ears pricked and swiveling. The sudden presence of li'fai's mindvoice in his skull almost startles him, but Erashun never misses a beat, only replies in few words and detours slightly. Two new scents pull at his muzzle, and deep silvery eyes half-lid as the magnificent Korat emerges into full sunlight, gaze lowering to see the strangers with two tan brothers. Easily picking his way down the slope, he halts within a few meters of the small group, bowing his head equably to the mated pair. "Botsa ze kayl, mri'fas. My name is Erashun, pack second to Shula."
One ear flicks, two strange scents mingling with those that smell suspiciously related... Hmm. But then, he'll deal with them later; his neutral gaze never leaves the two newcomers.

- Fish... or more? -- Jysulehn, 19:23:06 10/25/03 Sat
The burly red enters the area cautiously, her nose wrinkling at the prescence of far too many strange scents for her liking. Ears instinctively flatten, her broad and massive tail arching up behind her. Nevertheless, the red femme stalks forward with an appearance of ease, her ears forcably risen, and her tail held at mid-height. Golden eyes are the only tracable feature as they unnatrually sweep the land back and forth, and even the scent of the red is purely controlled emotionlessness. Jysulehn reaches the river easily, standing at its edge and watching the ever flowing depths carefully... both ears curved outwards. She watches the fish that swim beneath her carefully, arches her paw up above the edge of the water... then strikes! Stabbing a fish through the middle with her foreclaw and depositing it on the ground, where a swift blow to it's head with her tail relieves it of further pain. The femme continues with this odd form of fishing... and yet, despite all appearances, continues to scan the horizon.

- Postieee. -- Bhylek .. Elygan and Nagyle .. Meltoveii .. Vaehl, 19:21:26 10/20/03 Mon
Bhylek tumbles in. He seems /very/ proud of himself! After all, he'd found the river; all on his own! Tew would be so proud of the little runt. =P. Though he's covered in leaves and is breathing heavily, the tiny adolescent stumbles down to the riverbank, his scruffy fur skewed in his hasty movement. He'd heard Shula, and he wanted to help.. so he promptly flings himself into the water and scurries after the fish, limbs flailing madly in his partially-drowning attempt to help the pack.
The tan brothers follow the cub, unwittingly. Elygan had been trying to bop li'fre with the soft bits of his gangly tail the whole way to the river, though his darker shadow had doged each attempt. Nagyle halts at the edge of the trees, and is finally thwacked by the flirty tan's appendage, sending him rolling down the slight decline and tossing up a few torrents of water. Scowling at this play, the murky-eyed Korat jumps into his 'duty,' lashing out at the non-venomous fishies and scooping them out onto the bank.
A pale ghost in the shadows of the Koratrees, Meltoveii lurks before making her entry. Fire-coloure deyes scan swiftly over each crag and feature of the river and the Korats flocked around it, shying slightly from Wureshi's spawn, who seemed to be gathering here. The striped didn't trust them, not at all. Golden bars shimmer and gleam, giving away her postition as she finally lopes toward the water, a few sweeps of her elegant head catching the cool liquid into her jaws and throat. Though reclusive, she's a beautiful and elegant female, and might catch a certain flirt's eye. Even though she's taken.
Vaehl shrinks away from the approaching Shulans. Her oil-like fur gleams with pallid blues and soft dusks, as she clambers from the current, pelt dripping moisture away in soft torrents. Pale indigo pools look to those Korats gathered, and her wraithlike form enters the treeline. Shimmers of blue and purple would continue to bask the area around her pearly body, however, and the white attempts to hide herself. She wouldn't deny it; they scared her. If the striped Meltoveii would look her way, the Wureshin would emit a soft hiss and turn her side on the beast, from peer-pressured hatred of the hybrids.

A tattered white form slipped gracelessly through the trees on the riverbanks, balance obviously askew and badly enough that the Korat could not manage a steady lope. Half-healed wounds and massive scars plagued what was once an attractive female, ugly lumps of greyish scar tissue obscuring her nose and replacing her ears; she was deaf and unable to do more than breathe shallowly through her nose. Tongue lolling from a disfigured muzzle, Jiciri's blackened green eyes finally locked upon the beautiful sight of yet-hidden water reflecting sunlight onto the trees and leaves nearby. As hard as it had been to locate water by sight alone, she had done it.
Pale greyish fur was darkened immediately as Wureshi's daughter plunged recklessly into the icy river, streams of fresh blood mingling with flakes of dried. She stayed submerged as long as she could, rolling to wash the filth and gore from her patchy, uneven pelt, before she surged upwards and gasped for breath. Shaking her head vigorously was a foolish move for one whose inner ear -and thus her balance- had been ruined recently, and Jiciri spent the next few minutes trying to reach the surface again, kicking wildly with no sense of direction, the current tugging at her muscular frame. But finally she does surface, paddling immediately to the shore and climbing out, even more bedraggled and pitiful in appearance than before -- but now she's clean.
A crooked grin bared broken fangs as the white dipped her head and drank her fill of the ice-cold water, muscles twitching minutely as instinct tried to move nonexistant ears. As she stood again, liquid cascading from darkened grey fur, she looked around, using the one sense that remained to her. No one was within her vision, but then, it was a thickly-forested area and she could easily be ambushed. The thought birthed a rough growl which the warrior immediately stifled; though she couldn't hear it, others might.

- -Exception to the Rule- -- Taryn, 12:05:27 08/16/03 Sat
Streamlined muzzle turned into slowly blowing breeze, whistling around auds' that were laced tightly back against crania. Pale azure orbs pass 'round land, taking in the stream that, at this locale, flowed lazily over shallow creekbed. Many hued fish darted among the shoals, flashing in the shining sun. Altogether it was a scene of neverending serenity, but Taryn noticed little of the calming stillness. For beneath a calm exterior was hidden a mind at war with itself. Oculi flick from river to white and back again, voice low and soft.
We destroyed the Preda Bens and the Quomai, remember? We wanted to... make sure that if any of the Shulans lived that they would starve... I was thinking that we could catch fish to help out until another food source is found.
No more is spoken as a attention is turned to stream. With what was not unlike a blood lust the Korat began to capture the marine critters, slashing some with blade, some skewered on longclaws, many more simply flipped out of the sparkling waters to the damp earth to suffocate. As the pile of fis grew, a few still flopping weakly, the black slowed, thinking deeply as work continued almost mechanically.
The same mindwhisper that had alluringly spoken of chasing a new life with the Shulans now turned harsh and demeaning. It's velvety tone whispered of how he was undeserving of Atumi's mercy, how he was deceiving all about his true nature. Wureshi alone knew his character.
He was a murderer. Yes, nearly all of Wureshi's progeny had killed at least once, but li'miri was careful to bring the chirrlings up with war-monger attitudes and blissfully unaware of the basic differences between good and evil, right and wrong, moral and immoral. Taryn was different. His mother, Kalaryn, had taught him that difference before Wureshi sent her away. He still knew not what happened to her, though unconciously he knew that she had suffered the same fate as all other mothers. Despite knowledge of that vital difference the young black stayed with li'miri, training as he grew into a talented warrior, forcing himself to believe that his father cared about him. He followed Wureshi into battle more than once, helping to slaughter countless innocents even though he knew it was wrong. Mind tricked he into thinking that somehow Wureshi loved him, somehow he was different than the others, somehow he would make Wureshi proud. A fish brushed against a limb standing in the water, bringing he back to present reality with a snap, msking him realize that no movement had been made by he for several minutes. A slow shake of pate was the only outward sign of deep thoughts except a single look in eyes haunted with things that were far beyond years.

- ~!@#$%^&*()_+ -- Deyt, 18:42:37 08/06/03 Wed
Staggering wounds...
Deyt's metallicly clinking form appears from the trees, striding along the bank of the river. Striding with strength and - for the most part - quiet, the gargantuan hybrid's hobbling gait does not seem to hamper her very much. At the very northern tip of the territory, she finally rests, collapsing feebly where no Koratian eye can meet her own. A deep, sworling pool is coalesced around rocks and banks, and the cyborg presses into it, ragged pelt rippling softly with the current. Blackened blood murks the clear water, loose strands of fur slipping loose and carried downstream. Shutting her remaining eye, the immense beast dips her head and more blood washes away, cleansing her of her own life. As well as what had collected upon her from others. A throaty hum arises from her furled throat, a wordless version of what she had chanted before. Wading into the shallows, Deyt settles upon a flat, partially submerged slab of rock, letting her head rest on a higher stone. Now cleaned, her wounds can be seen as they truly are - mortal, or almost so. Lone, sad, grey eye flickers shut, as a healing trance immerses the hybrid in passive rest. Darkness deepens the shadows, making everything seem more dramatic in its silent death. And there lies the cyborg, an exile of Koratkind, clinging to life only half-heartedly...

Running ahead of her family, proud of her speed, Eresath barely has time to yelp before she plunges straight into the river. In the water, she is fairly graceless, but manages to keep her head above the surface and bob along like a scrap of fluffly bark. She comes to rest against a scorched tree limb that had fallen into the waves the previous night, presumably the source of one of the multiple loud splashes that had come from the river. "Why's this smell like Noni?" she asks no one in particular, sniffing around. Her curiosity remains unanswered, however. She almost likes the feeling of the water now that she has something to rest against.

- WATER!! XD! -- Numi, 19:44:33 06/29/03 Sun
Groggily making her way through the territory, the sudden presence of water lapping around her ankles is enough to get Numi's pale blue eyes open. With a pearly-toothed grin, the black dipped her sleek muzzle down to lap up the fresh water. Noticing the lack of salinity with a slightly nostalgic sigh, nonetheless Numi erupts into a dive, a tidal wave emanating from where she hits the water. Paddling easily despite the awesome current of the whitewater river, she surfaces briefly to breathe and then proceeds to, well, play! A swimming past-time that not many Korats enjoy, but Numi's one of the few who can handle herself quite well in the water.
As an afterthought, she mock-glares towards the center of the territory. You just wait, Zrego. Next time... we dance in the water. The young black laughs cheerfully, periwinkle eyes bright at the thought. Her striped companion had bested her in the trees, but he would have no chance at keeping up in the river. With that pleasant thought in mind, Numi enjoys herself swimming.

- Outcast, but energetic. -- Noni, 19:02:08 05/18/03 Sun
((Third time I've tried to post this, I give up if it screws up again.))
Her littermates and parents abandoned to the revelry in the clearing, black Noni walks to the bank of the river and gazes at her reflection. She looks like a sculpture of shadows and sun-drenched gold, fur tinged with violet dusk as the day sinks into the embrace of night. Hm. Poetic thought, that...
A little disgusted with herself, she reaches out a forepaw and slashes it through her mirror image. It quickly reforms, a hard, mocking look in its eyes reflecting her own. Why? she asks herself. What is it about me that makes my family hate me? I don't need them really. I guess... I guess I just need to be loved. How quaint. Heaving a sigh, she stretches out full length on the bank, muzzle almost dipping into the lapping water. She almost drifts off there, lulled by dark thoughts. A solitary chitter noses curiously at the tip of her tail, causing her to startle.
"Oh... Hello," She says aloud, looking around and feeling rather foolish. The small feline clambers over next to her and curls up to sleep, burrowing so that Noni is quite uncomfortable.
The beautiful black rolls onto her back, inadvertantly dipping her tailblade in the water, and regards her shiny golden claws, concentrating on them for no particular reason other than boredom and a disinclination to head for the clearing. One forepaw begins to tingle and glow with a strange yellow light. Transfixed, she can only watch as the energy plays about her claws, until she discovers she can form it into a tiny ball and move it with her mind. Hey! Cool! I wonder if Moll can do this, btsa-bent as she is on being perfect. Tossing the energy ball between her paws, she hardly notices as the glow grows brighter, becoming a beacon in the deepening night. She continues to play with it, looking a little happier now that she's no longer bored.

- *Kitty drags Zrego off with her under a rock to hide* -- Jysulehn, 20:37:55 04/24/03 Thu
A golden gaze once tinged with quiet acknowledgment of the battle to come, burns now with utter fury... and is locked completely Rachedith. The golden gaze is no longer gold, but a piercing yellow, pupils slit thin to ebon daggers that dig mental hatred into the white flank. Muscules twitch once and the red Jysulehn is completely standing, hackles raised, muscules of the neck bulging as blood rushed by anger pulses through.
The alto voice once smooth is now rigid, each word spit out with utter disgust and contempt.
"You frante! You tailless, chitter eating, COWARD of a frante!"
Jysulehn's massive tail raises to it's full height, quivering above her broad russet form and pointing directly at Rachedith...
"I aught to hit you right now... Threatening and insulting your OWN child... and don't you DARE tell me she isn't yours, I could smell the bloodkin between you from miles off... She's YOUR child... YOUR blood... YOUR Flesh... a bit of your dyoned SOUL! If you even HAVE a dyoned soul! I'll remind you that she did nothing to be born the way she is... its YOUR own supposed "fault" that her flank happens to be a mix of colors... By the Suns! Have you heard of a thing called GENETICS?!? And for that matter, you treat the fact that her flank is of two tones as a foul or bad thing... IT'S FUR PIGMENTATION YOU IDIOT! It's not her mind, not her spirit, not even necessarily her body! NO matter WHAT sterotypes the rest of Koratian kind follows... STRIPED or not... she is YOUR DAUGHTER. YOUR DAUGHTER. YOUR CUB. SHE IS PART OF YOU!!! Hit YOURSELF upside the head a few times for being who you were born as and let me know if you think it's NECESSARY!!!"
The red pauses a moment, sides heaving with anger restrained, all fur raised fully as the scent of sweat falls across the River's area. Claws unclench the dirt, leaving deep rivets in the ground as they rise, and the eyes of yellow now return to a... sharp gold. The tail seems to lower, then in one swift movement finds itself beside Rachedith's muzzle, a foreclaw moving with lightning speed to place itself directly between tailblade and the muzzle of the youth. Jysulehn's eyes slanted once again, and without any warning, her mind shoots with likely painful speed into Rachedith's.
I had a daughter once... a tan runt... quite different from what the sterotypical Koratian "dream cub" would be... nonetheless, I treated her as a mother should treat a cub... My cub was murdered. The only thing I know is that when she died, she knew I was proud of her. Should your cub ever be attacked, as she will be if you don't gain something in the way of mothering skills, I doubt you could say the same.
Jysulehn's mind retracts with similar speed, and once again... she speaks aloud.
"Try to touch the cub and not only will I stop you, but I'll gladly give you a taste of your own discipline."

[We-ell... it opens a plot opertunity. If I can get past this fight. Oh, jheez. You should make a note of Korat's disliking machinery, if you hadn't already, Sush0rz.]
The river. Chuckling over well-worn stones, pondering between its confining banks. Whether clashing through obstacle or lightly bearing a leaf, suspended upon the surface, the river rules. One entity of gamuts combined to one. A feat of physics, gravity and liquid combined to create current. Noticing the little things, when greater ones are at hand, she thinks, the thoughts sliding through her awareness as oil over water. Words follow suit, clad in their usual iron manacles and cast in sombre shadow. A passionless gaze slips to Erashun, something desolate and barren deep within.
'...then, sso it shall be...'
A wearied silence.

- ((silence as ice melts and flows raggedly down the river//white ghost nearby)) -- Erashun, 17:31:40 02/15/03 Sat
The white beast enters an all-too familiar area of the territory silently, massive paws settling to the moist earth with only the rustle of luxuriously long fur to betray motion. As is usual for the huge male, his tail is slung low with blade tilted so that the blunt overcurve is horizontal, sharp edge pointed downwards. A sudden wind whips up, sending thick waves through silky fur; Erashun closes his eyes as the breeze speaks to him, still maintaining his slow, steady pace. Silver-white claws do not clench the soil at each step, as most Korats do naturally, but barely caress the fertile earth with each stride. Despite his size, the white is a very subtle presence.
After a moment, a deep breath is taken and Erashun's profound silver orbs open; a glance is thrown over his shoulder at the Korats who follow. In a whisper, the male speaks. "You are all at different stages in your lives, with different stretches of experience backing your current mindset. But I feel you and I know you." Silence falls for a long moment. Erashun curves his path and soon is padding parallel to the burbling river. "Some things you will forget. Some things you will always remember. Let what I am about to say be the latter." Eyes half-close as the white male continues, stride easing into a smoother gait.
"I can teach you many things, but I am not your teacher. I can train your bodies and your minds, but I am not your trainer. I merely pass on what I have been taught; I merely share my own training." A heavy exhalation ruffles the male's beard, and his whiskers tingle as the wind touches his senses again. His voice strengthens to a quiet but normal speaking tone, deep and fluid. "If you are willing to learn what I have to give... then tell me why. Why are you walking with a stranger in lands that you've only recently come to know as home? Why are you listening to my words when you know me not?"
"Why do you wish to learn?"

- Return... -- Erashun and Atumi, 21:22:49 01/11/03 Sat
A white ghost moves through the shadows of night, listening to the familiar burble of the river. Standing at six and a half feet at the shoulder, this massive, lion-maned Korat was once a common sight in this territory. Has it really been a full year...? The male ruffles his luxuriously long fur as he pads along the river, whitely silver claws barely imprinting the rich soil. A blade of the same polished-silver hue glints on a proudly-held tail, and Erashun raises his long muzzle to sniff the nightwind. With an earflick that sends a silky tassel brushing his skull, the white tosses his head, the long beard tipping his chin waving.
"It's been a while... Erashun."
The black steps out of the shadows and lets his supple form be highlighted by ruddy moonlight. Brilliant teal eyes glint as Atumi regards his old friend. New scars marred the white, a new weight layered his strong shoulders but... but the indomitable spirit was unchanged by recent hardships. The black grins quietly, approaching Erashun on silent and deadly paws.
"As it has, Atumi."
Deep silver eyes examine his friend in turn, and the white sees that not much has changed, though a generally good pack must be in the making for Atumi to seem so... content. Erashun moves forward and before the black could protest, uses his powerful tail to 'hug' Atumi to him, the black's chest and muzzle pressed against a muscular white shoulder. Teal eyes snap open wider, startled by the white's unusual display of affection, but light pressure is returned by Atumi's own light grey blade before he pulls away.
"It was a long and fruitless journey, mri'fao. I have come back to better myself."
Erashun's impossibly deep voice speaks what the black has already guessed, and Atumi nods. Settling to his haunches, the black watches as his friend settles to the earth, silver and teal gazes now at a level and with hardly a foot separating them. Like brothers they are, these kindred spirits, and though Atumi would shun any offer of affection from another Korat, Erashun's brotherly love was taken without reservation. And only to the white would Atumi speak freely, without restraint, and only for the white would Atumi lower his emotional barriers.
"How goes the pack, brother? It seems well."
"'Tis. We have promise and little mutiny within these. Barring the usual one or two."
Erashun sniffs the nightwind. "Several stripeds."
"Aye. Odd they are, flocking in number here. I deem our reputation has become common knowledge."
"As it should be, Atumi, as it should be. Have you any need of help?"
The black inhales slowly, regarding the white as though he were mad. "Erashun, your training is always needed. I am glad you have returned, and the 'mates would benefit from your skill. But there is no urgency. Train yourself first, mri'fao."
The white snorts lightly, sending ripples down his long fur. "My training comes from teaching others. I will kill him, Atumi, make no mistake. But I will do it on my time and not his."
Atumi laughs outright, mirth in his eyes. "You glutton, you think I would underestimate you?" he chuckles, abruptly losing the more formal tone they had been conversing in. Erashun mimicks the liquid tenor laugh in his own deep bass. "I know, mri'fre. I feel no pressure to train these chirrlings you've brought in, but I will all the same." The white scents the wind briefly, flicking a long-tufted ear. "Only one of any particular age, hmm? Gathering younglings for a reason or by accident?" Atumi rolls his eyes mockingly, "They flock in dreams of glory, these youngbloods. All except the kembahr are near Shula's age or younger." At this, Erashun's silver eyes narrow. "There is a kembahr? And Shula keeps this Korat around?" Atumi nods, a glint in his eye warning the white of his enmity towards the aforementioned individual.
Erashun chuckles again, raising his long muzzle to look at the stars through wise yet fresh eyes. "It has been a long journey, brother. And I smell your exhaustion." An amused glance is tossed to the black, "I assume you used energy a bit too much today. We both need sleep 'fore the morn." Atumi nods, punctuating his agreement with a yawn, and slides down into a laying position... feeling secure for the first time since li'fre had left. His eyes close and he slips into sleep long before Erashun lays his head down to rest.

- Fishing -- Matelit, 10:27:42 11/27/02 Wed
A female black korat walks up. She pads down to the river and looks in the small swirling pool. She watches a small blackfish swimming around. She raises her paw up and swipes at it,and it hurries away. She obviously had never done this before because the next fish she swiped at was a small neon legged fish and it swam furiously towards her paw. She jumped back, suprised. Her glossy fur was stuck to her body because of the water driping off it. She had splashed herself. She walks along the river muscles bunching under her shoulders. She found another pool. Filled with about seven hairfish. She looked down at it and all of the fish swam away at her shadow. She sat down and they finally swam back. She picked up a large piece of bark with her mouth and barred the small entrance to the pool from the river. She then moved and fished from the right so her shadow wouldn't be over the pool. She steathily reached the edge of the pool and peeked in. Nine hair fish swum around in its shallow depths. She raised her paw and swiped. She missed again splashing herself. She was discouraged, but continued. She missed about three more times. Then she tried one last time. Out of the water came a hair fish, and it landed in the river behind her. She tried again, a little happier. She struck and brought three hairfish to the bank beside her. She cut of the heads and tails with her claw and happily ate them. She lies down on the bank watching the fish go by and the sound of the river lulls her to sleep. She wakes up about an hour later and walks away.
