I think that it's possible that Kate knows Castle better than the first wife did. I think he has let her in more than he has in his previous relationships. Just look at how much he has matured since the pilot ep. So it's possible that when Kate was thinking at the end, she was wondering how much of herself she has revealed to Castle. Perhaps she was trying to determine if she is treating Castle the way he treated his first wife--remaining closed off and not revealing her deepest thoughts and feelings.

Meredith cheated on him we learned that in S1. So think he left her because of it. She didn't bother to tell Kate that. I think she feels hasn't learned as much about Castle or tried as hard as he has to learn those things about her and time to change that.     - I agree that they were trying to show us she had more depth, but I believe Castle has made more than one reference to her shopoholic tendancies. Or maybe I'm misremembering again. If they make her too flighty, then that could make Castle look bad for having been married to her. But I choose to believe that it shows how far he has come.       - You make sense and true she should be happy he wants to know her. But maybe she felt he wouldn't open up to her or let her in so was a one sided relationship. To me more an excuse she tells herself as to why cheated. Did she ever try and get to know him more like he did her? Also what struck me is he knew all these things about her but never wrote a book about her but has already written 4 about Kate. I feel she was jealous so planted this seed in her head.
