Arukit silently curses herself as the familiar but distant voice of her departed, or so she thought, father reaches her ears. Such wishful thinking is not like her. Instinctively, though, her eyes fly open. She finds she has lost all sensory contact with Tasiri and curses at herself again, determined to pick up the trail, this time using her eyes. She catches a very slight rustle of leaves, and though she sees no flash of tan, she knows it was Tasiri, whose new speed must be forcing her to be a little sloppier in leaving no visual trace. And yes! There is a faint claw-mark! And another rustle. Soon enough, Arukit has picked the trail back up and is following it. Surely the tan must start her heart again soon.
