Sized at 145mm long, (the side parallel to the ribs) and 105mm wide. This hole is centered at a point 300 mm forward from the trailing edge and 530mm from the root rib, (the inboard edge of the wing skin. I cut and glued ply doublers across each corner of the aperture under the corners of the hole, then glued and riveted a nutplate into each. The ply cover is then screwed onto the nutplates. If you use shallow head screws and get a good fit with the covers then it is barely noticeable when fitted and provides a smooth matching surface, as opposed to an ugly metal disc type. Bear in mind that the wing skin is curved and as such if you use an off the shelf item that is flat, it will be difficult to install neatly. If you use a very sharp stanley knife you can cut the panel directly out the wing skin to use as the cover, that way it should fit nicely and already be painted. Hope this helps Rob [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
