But I do have a super low friction Briggs and Stratton engine in a lawnmower. (It's super low friction by virtue of everything being worn out with at least twice the clearance that there should be). When it won't start, some combination of the following seems to help: 1 fit a new plug with half the normal plug gap 2 squirt a table spoon full of fuel in the plug hole (or approx. 3tblespoons into the carb).(Don't put too much fuel in as you don't want to risk a hydraulic lock causing serious engine damage). If the engine fires even for a second you have a fuel rather than a sparks problem. 3 If the plug looks wet I blast the central electrode with a blowlamp until the HT plug cap gets to 100 deg C. This guaranties there is no condensation/contamination on the insulator nose that might cause the HT to track rather than arc. 4 Jumper the battery with a car battery 5 If all else fails I repeat 2 above with a squirt of holts easystart.
