I used to use the Peery prop and also experienced the symptoms you have. Very occasionally it would bog down to around 5000 rpm on take off, or during climb. It cruised very fast though. I think the Peery is a bit too course, and with the variances in power from air density and changing temperatures can result in the torque requirement of the propellor exceeding what the engine can produce.

I did have a couple of rather too exciting take offs, so i changed the prop for a Warp Drive. Never had the bog down symptoms since. I lost a little cruise performance, but it's better than an unplanned encounter with the upwind hedge!!

Are we to be treated to an LAA article on the Pulsar? Marvellous. The last one was in 2005 I think.
