the exhaust doesn't fit, I know because I wanted to fit the exhaust from an M42 on my M40. Didn't work.
Also the radiator is bigger for the M42 (got that one in my car right now).
You may want to change the differential as well, since they're supposed to be different: the 318iS reaches a higher top speed at almost the same rpm?
You may also want to upgrade the brakes: a 316i has no disks in the rear, a 318iS does.
And of course you want the Recaro seats from the 318iS ;-)
