This book is a tribe of Indians with the name Nashua. When they need food they go out what they need. They use the food and things they killed before they go out for more. They blessed the animals they killed to forgive them. One day uninspecticly a pail faced man game into their village with his wares and said to the tribe that they were tresspassing on his land and desided that he would keep he would keep the land for himself. Soon after that the pail faced man, made a paper pulp industry and all the extra pulp they had they decided to dump it in the river. Then one day a man had a dream about the river and found out it was true. He told all the tribe and they decided to make a petition to save the river because it was foul smelling from then on the river never smelled foul again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite part of the book was when the tribe all signed a petition including Cheif Weewa, Marion, Oweana{all not mentioned in summary.
