So, what do you guys think about communism? I'm new here. Hi, I'm Pav. Anyways, communism. Why does everyone freak out when that word is said? What's the big deal? I personally find nothing wrong with it!

I think that if anyone noticed any change in the political system towards communism they would rally and riot and there would be a whole big mess, because, like you said, people in America ARE so afraid of it. Many people would rather be so stinking rich than to help the poor anyway. Of course, with communism, there probably wouldn't be marriage for money any more. And yes you are posting fine. Re: I'm glad you recongize that Communism doesn't work in REAL life, but it doesn't work very well in thoery, either you know. Communism (and socialism) require the goverment to have almost COMPLETE control over your lives. Imagine that. And just think: Under Communism and socialism, work doesn't mean anything. A farmer who works hard for his family so that they can have bread on the table at night will get JUST as much as a lazy bum who refuses to work at all. That sounds good on paper? And how come I never hear people talking about OUR system of capitalism and this republic (not a democracy) we live in. It looks great on paper, and it works even better! Actually our system has it's faults aswell. Just saying. I mean the government DOES have complete control over us. And oil companies control the government. It's big buisiness. But protesting gets you arreseted and beaten. And if we challenge our government we can get sued, or worse thrown in jail. I mean most people hate George W. with a passion. But they can't do anything about it. Freedom? Well I guess it's freedom as long as you don't say what some other people find offensive, or do what other people think you shouldn't do. One of the main reason our country isn't in the dumps is because people BELIEVE in it that it works. While some guy's sleeping in a gutter atleast IM in a two storey house. So it works for the rich, and the rich are loudest in politics. Whenever there were doubts in the system some big war came along and saved the economy. Well, that all depends on how you protest! Riots and things, yes, you'll be arrested. But petitions and referendums and stuff like that is perfectly legal. As for getting beaten, dang, can't think of anything. I'm sure it could happen, but not too often. I don't like Bush-boy either, but he was voted in and unless he REALLY screws up and gets impeached and kicked out, there's nothing we can do. I definitely see the whole "freedom as long as you don't offend anyone and everything" point. That's become quite ludicrous these days. Law suites for the pettiest things! True dat. But I mean look what happened at the during the rebublican and democratic conventions. The cops just started blasting the protesters, when all the yhad done was climb on a fence. Not only that but the cops dug up all the trees and plants there so that the protesters wouldn't have weapons. Even though about a year ago they had spent thousands on planting new trees there. Re: I would disagree with Alihja on one thing: I don't think that wanting to rise to a top is greed. Certainly there are some who are greedy, but I think greedy is better defined by someone who HAS risen "to the Top" and wants more. As to the riots and things and W: Man, I wish Pat BUchanan and Ralph Nader did better in the elections.
