Maria? Myth walked beside his rider, breaking their silence. The woman didn't answer; she hadn't spoken since the flight.
Maria was lost deeply in thought- she didn't even notice when the surf soaked the hems of her pants, or sprayed higher, splashing her around a stouter waist. Myth didn't know what was going on, for she had hardly been eating. She ate only when Myth forced her to, and even then, not much. Her clothes mostly hung on a nuch thinner frame, except around her strangely expanding waistline. Myth feared she was pregnant, but was reluctant to bring it up.
Maria, you have to start speaking again. Everyone is worried about you.
Everyone? No one has been by since...
The flight, I know.
They don't care.
Myth sighed, a big, breathy dragon sigh, and plodded along behind her. If she was still only mind-speaking, the least he could do was offer her shade from the blistering sun.

They don't care, they have NEVER cared, you are better off dead, the voices tried to tell her. She mentally growled at them, I KNOW!!! Would you drop it already? She was pregnant, carrying S'peer's child, She hadn't seen the blue rider since she had concieved- as a matter of fact, she hadn't seen anybody since she had concieved. Tat was hard to find, and she didn't trust his siblings as much.

Green Eggs! -- Reign and Spirirt, 15:14:47 11/11/05 Fri
The lithe emerald beauty was now laden with her first clutch, her normally skinny stomach sweeled considerably. Yes, this would be a good clutch! She chirped happily to her brown suitor, her Spirit, and he bent his neck to nuzzle her in return.
Spying an unused spot, Reign directed their flight to the sands, and set to her task. Spirit cooed softly to her, and when she was done, he came to inspect the clutch.

Spirirt gave a laugh of a chirp, and nuzzled his maet, sending her a mental image of their Impressed. She chirped slightly severely:of course their Impressed could have one! OR, when their True came, at least. For now...they were alone to watch the eggs.

Romana soars over the sands, her body weighed down and flight laden with the burden of a fat, healthy clutch. Her flight with the blue Alkyri had been long. Her sculpted head shoots over the sunny golden sands beneath her, searching for the ideal spot in which to lay. There! There was a nook in the rocks in that cove. Green wings tilt and the heavy firelizard swoops to her chosen cranny. The sand beneath her talons is hot and grainy. Her stomach twinges and Romana squawks heavily..

Time passes. The green is too focused on her task to determine exactly how much, however. Soon there are ten - count 'em, ten - creamy spheres are glistening and soft on the toasty sands. Romana frets over her first clutch, which is indeed fine. She croons and pushes sands over them, uncovering and covering in rapid procession. Finally, she's done messing with them, and resorts to hunkering over the smooth orbs. The green's watching this clutch, oh yes.

The green flit didn't take a long time in choosing her egg site as she flew around the beach. She simply landed in the same place she had before. A small clutch, this one was. After looking at it, she burried it inexperiencedly with some sand, and then flew off. No maternal instincts for this green!
Tetsuya came for one last inspection of his mate's nest. However, just as he was coming, he saw a tunnel snake leap from the ground. Tetsuya grew vivid-- he lashed at the snake as hard as he could. Thankfully, it was a very small snake, but as he surveyed the clutch, he was saddened to find one egg--a small--had been taken. Crooning sadly, he covered the others with more sand, and left. Where had Luna gone?

Tully surveyed her clutch of eggs, her eyes narrowed as her tiny mind endeavoured to count them. Five. Five? Was that it? But then, she had never been one for mothering. Her previous clutches hadnt been very big beforeand this was probably her largest so far, if she remembered rightly.
Not really caring what happened to the eggs, the green fire-lizard hopped /between/ neatly, leaving her five eggs in their small pile of sand, barely covered by the warm, soft stuff. Her human didnt want any moreand if they got eaten by tunnel-snakes, it was their fault.

The male was sprawled in a haphazard way across the sands near the shoreline, dark eyes shut to the brilliant sun as the waves came up to play along his heels and the backs of his calves. Divar shuddered involuntarily at the cold, his pants rolled to the knees and his unlaces sandals laying beside him; Clearly visible was the Theadscore snaking up his leg, tanning slower than his naturally tanned, olive toned skin. Alkyri had stretched himself supine on Divar's chest, oustretched cerulean hued wings providing stark contrast to the deep navy colored shirt. The firelizard snorted in his sleep, one wing twitching absently; Divar half opened one eye to watch his companion, a grin passing across his features silently. They had both eaten and taken a brief sojourn in the ocean, and now it was time to lay in the sand and dry. The Hatching was far from now, Shrineth had been caught not days before the youth's arrival. So he had time to meet other candidates, dragonriders, and generally loaf about doing whatever was handed to him. He had already volunteered himself for a few chores, sweeping the DIning Hall earlier that morning for a tired drudge with a headache. There wasn't much else to do but help around until given some sort of an order. Diver's entire being ached with the need to be busy, to be actively involved in something, whether it was decent or not. He grinned and thought wilder, boyish thoughts, and the hoof shaped scars on his back twinged: a phantom, thought pain.
Divar yelled sharply and shot an irritated scowl at Alkyri, who was currently kneading his claws into the shirt and chest of his companion, repositioning himself. The bold little lizard simply looked at him, entertained by the yelp of his comrade, expressing this feeling in colors and pictures. Divar understood, but scowled harder. He had encouraged Alkyri in behaving quite well, and the small little blue usually did as told, unless he wanted something. But, no, Alkyri was merely bored, aching to be active just as his owner; he hoppped off Divar's chest and went about curling himself atop Divar's left shoe instead, tail wrapping up to his nose as his light blue eyes closed into sleep. Divar sighed. Nothing to do but wait.

Appearing from between over the beach, Kree lands in a small, sheltered cove, confused and not quite sure what she's supposed to do. Someone else does, though, someone who's seen plenty of firelizards clutch in her time, and the little green lets her Big Green Sister guide her as she builds a nest and lays her eggs. Once laid, she looses interest entirely, and takes to the air shivering with exhaustion and uncertainty. Come home, little sister, the dragon whispers, and she follows the familiar voice with relief at having someone to guide her home.
In the poorly-built nest, six eggs are piled haphazardly on top of each other. Their mother might be a confused and dysfunctional creature, but their father was clever and strong, and despite their untidy appearance, these eggs should be perfectly fine within. Two large, two medium, and two small, they wait for tunnel-snakes or eager humans, whichever comes first.

On a deserted stretch of rocky beach, the broken remnants of a raft are scattered around two prone forms on the sand. They're soaked with saltwater, though the morning sun is slowly drying them, leaving their skin and clothes lightly crusted with salt. The darker, slightly larger figure moves first, stirring fitfully into wakefullness. Sitting up a bit too fast, Liandro winces and grabs his side, blinking and squinting against the harsh glare of the sun in his eyes. His head throbs painfully with every breath he takes, and from the dampness on his fingers and the shooting pain in his side, his head isn't the only part of him struck by the boards of the raft when it abruptly broke up on them. Seeing Marja still lying motionless beside him, the tall, broad-shouldered young man bends over her, the pained expression on his brown-black face shifting into one of deep concern. He'd tried to shield her with his body when he'd realized that the mighty wave was flinging them straight at an outcropping of rocks, but he's not as strong as he could be, and he'd lost his grip on her when the second wave battered them into the rocks they were on. "Healer Marja?" he murmurs, his breathy tenor naturally quiet. "Are you all right?" His agile fingers gently touch against her neck, feeling for a pulse, and then probe the back of her skull in search of any signs of injury.
His chivalrous action had been more successful than he realized, and while Marja is sore where she'd struck rock, there's no real pain as she wakes up, only the itchy feeling of drying seawater on her skin and someone's hands in her long, wavy black hair. She tenses, then relaxes at the sound of a familiar voice, and slowly opens her eyes to see an anxious Liandro hovering over her. The boy has been with her for almost a Turn now, making himself into a self-appointed bodyguard for the gentle Healer, and she feels no unease at his proximity. The mere thought of doing anything improper would probably send Liandro into a horrified swoon, and she has to fight to hold back laughter at the mental image her mind provides. Smiling at him, Marja sits up and gently pushes his hands away. "I'm fine, Liandro," she assures him, and then the smile vanishes as she sees the hand he holds against his right side, and then the blood seeping from between his fingers. "But YOU," she continues sternly, "are not. Take your hand away and pull up your shirt- don't argue now," she adds before he can even finish opening his mouth to protest, "and let me take a look at that. I'm the Healer here, remember. Can you see my bag?" The woman looks around, then remembers seeing it fly into the ocean when the first big wave jolted their makeshift raft. With a sigh, she begins tearing strips of cloth from the hem of her tunic. "Never mind." And over Liandro's soft-spoken protests, she wipes as much blood and saltwater from the wound as she can, wishing she had fresh water and numbweed, and begins fashioning a makeshift wrapping. "I'll redo that properly later, when I can find fresh water and numbweed plants, but right now I just want to stop the bleeding."
Eventually, the Healer is satisfied with her dressing, and hauls Liandro to his feet. "There should probably be a stream of some kind emptying into the ocean, with all this vegetation about," he volunteers, knowing that while she can identify just about any dangerous or beneficial plant on the Northern Continent, Marja's never learned anything else about the wilderness, especially here in the warmer equatorial area where he spent most of his life. So he'd spent a great deal of it on boats, true, but any good fishercraftsman knew a bit about islands, in case of shipwreck. Reluctantly allowing Marja to drag his arm over her shoulders, though he does his best not to lean on her since he knows he weighs a good deal more, the teenager nods to the right. "If we walk along the shoreline, we can find it, and where there's a stream-"
"-there's more likely to be numbweed and fellis," Marja finishes with a smile. "And even if there isn't, we could use some fresh water. I know. Come on." Doing her best to support Liandro, though she knows the silly boy will be trying not to lean on her, she lets him lead them off along the beach.

The green flew in, and found a good nesting spot. She got comfertable and clutched. After she was done, she stayed there, waiting for her beloved Torch and her impressor. The clutch is the following:

Her tail was wrapped protectively over an egg: a small. Her impressor came in and sat down beside her, smilling at her beauty. So, who will impress which?

((As I said before, Garth is at a psychologist, but it's not doing him much good. Hehe. Here is his clutch with Nagaina-the-woman-hater, and there are only three eggs left so I don't outshine the greens. And there is no gold egg, because there are too many already.))
It had been a while since her clutch had been laid. Nagaina curled around her eggs, looking suspiciously at anything that came too near to her. There were only three other fire-lizards nearby Mang, Bandar and Gidur were her guards, and Beetle was with Lvan at his training.
They all looked up as the two boys neared them, the males taking to the air, ready to beat them back if they tried anything. But as they paused and hesitated Nagaina chirped to the others and allowed them to approach her.
From their words and gestures, and the respectful way they gestured to her eggs, she understood that they wanted some. So she neatly pulled herself away from her clutch, inviting them to take a few. She was getting a little bored of guarding them.
The eggs seemed to know. With anxious creels, three hatchlings two greens and a bronze exploded from their shells simultaneously, struggling to the two humans and hastily being scooped up as they neared one of the twins.
Taran looked down at his tiny green, amazed as he felt her small mind brush on his. He slowly reached into his pocket, feeding her small bites of some dried meat he had brought for the occasion. Pepper. He named her gently, stroking her small head as she closed her eyes and slept.
Arden had received two the bronze and the green. They fell on the food he gave them instantly, the bronze shoving his sister away so that Arden had to intervene. Stop it, you. He told the bronze. Dragonkind are supposed to be good. Looks like youre a He grinned. Rebel. And you He turned to the green, who rubbed her head against his hand as she felt his attention. Pip, after my old canine.
Elly was the next person to find the clutch. With delight she arrived just as some more of the eggs were hatching, and found that she had attached two a brown and a green. She gave them bits of meat, stroking their heads as she named the green Tippa and the brown Iro.
Salty, much to his personal happiness, had followed his sister there and managed to get two more before they ran off from their just-broken eggs. A bronze and a blue clung to his shirt and devoured food he gave them, soon becoming Dom and LB Little Blue was all he could think of.

Alestiath lounged on the beach, her eyes whirling the calm blues and greens of utter serenity as her wings twitched reflexively in response to the light breeze stirring her rider's hair. Tsuga had stretched out on the glistening sand beside her dragon, padding her head on her arms and staring up at the sky, watching the birds fly and occasionally naming the shape of a cloud. It wasn't the most interesting thing in the world, but neither of them felt like being particularly energetic at the moment. Tia had just eaten and been bathed and oiled, and Tsuga was rather enjoying drying herself in the sun. They didn't have any lessons for a while, so neither of them saw any reason to move a muscle for a good, long time. No, at this point, they'd just rather cook under the bright, warm sun.

A pair of bright blue eyes flicked back and forth between the sleeping dragonet and the precious sheet of paper that the young artist braced against a piece of smooth wood. A stub of lead danced across the sheet of paper. As he drew, the young mans brow furrowed. He wanted to get this drawing just right. Slowly, a picture began to form on the paper. Suddenly, a bronze flit appeared in the middle of the scene. With a cry, he launched himself towards the artist. His sharp talons landed on a shoulder. He gripped the shoulder and curled his tail around Lkannons neck. The boy was annoyed for a moment, but only for a moment. He set the paper, wood and stub of lead down. With a crooning voice and gentle hands, he coaxed the miniature dragonet down into his arms. The dragonet crooned as Lkannons fingers stroked the soft bronze hide. The sleeping dragon stirred and slowly raised one sandy brown eyelid. {Did you finish?} Lkannon shook his head mournfully and answered aloud. No, this little scamp distracted me. Balgi let out an offended sounding squawk. ~Picture of Balgi being a good flit~ Yes, Balgi, youre a very good flit. Lkannon assured him. With a snort, Odinth shut his eyes and returned to sleep.

((I'm looking for a thread, not 'lizard eggs, so feel free to reply and chat or whatever! ^_^))
P'rin isn't an enthusiastic swimmer, though he'd learned from neccessity when caring for a sickly hatchling during the Disasters (like most who lived through them, they've taken on a capital letter in his mind). Likewise, Caphoth positively hates the ocean; the undersized dragon's only experiences with it have been negative. But they're bored, the Weyr is busy today, and worst of all, the weyrlings are learning firestone. Since this usually leads to an injury or two, this presents the twin dangers of being in the wrong place at the wrong time (P'rin had only been trying to bathe Caphoth during the last weyrling training, and there were still singe-marks on the poor dragon's tail - thank goodness they'd been in the lake at the time), and being recruited to help out in case of a medical crisis. Since P'rin has no medical experience and neither he nor his dragon are really built for the tasks they're henceforth usually drafted to do, the bluerider feels no shame at fleeing the Weyr to visit the beach on this lovely morning.
Strolling up and down the long stretch of sand visible to his nervous dragon - one of Caphoth's most frightening experiences had been nearly loosing his injured, delerious rider to drowning shortly after P'rin lost his left eye - P'rin kicks idly at driftwood, pausing to poke at a few abandoned firelizard nests with a long stick. The wild 'lizards are nowhere in sight, having fled this beach as the domestic overpopulation exploded into what was nearly a crisis point, and finally the stringent rules that had been put in place concerning that overpopulation are beginning to have some effect. The only firelizard on this stretch of beach right now is bronze Dell, perched on P'rin's left shoulder to guard the bluerider's blind side. This is another precaution that Caphoth insists on, though the insistence is to the firelizard alone, and P'rin assumes Dell's chosen side to be an attempt to take him by surprise while landing. He wouldn't appreciate his dragon's loving concern. The blue eyepatch and long scar over that empty eyesocket is covered by a sweep of gingery red hair, the only place where it's allowed to grow long, and a hazel eye sparkles merrily from the right side of his face. Tall, lanky, and heavily freckled, P'rin lacks refinement but still has a rough kind of attractiveness, not to mention a cheerful attitude and a good-natured appreciation for a joke. His silver tongue doesn't exactly hurt his status with the ladies - or the men.
Keeping a nervous, rapidly whirling green eye on his rider at all times, Caphoth suns himself on top of a dune. Nearly not born at all, inspired from his tiny thick-shelled egg only by his Impressed human's determination, Caphoth is a blue the size of an average green, with a dull, mottled hide far more bluish-grey than true blue. Still, his own determination matches his rider's, and he's never given up. He still has almost the normal blue stamina, which is greater than a green's, and he has a green's agility and speed - turning his own small size into an advantage by combining the best attributes of his color-mates and his size-mates. He's worked hard to perfect this combination, since it's the only way he and P'rin have been able to prove themselves anywhere, whether in the small, shifting groups of dragonriders who had survived the Disasters or here at New Isle. He'll never catch a green, not with the power a mating flight gives her, but he's long ago resigned himself to that. After all, as long as P'rin is having happy assignations, his rider is content and Caphoth himself isn't really being denied a thing.

The emerald flit looked around the beach, searshing for the perfect spot. Anna followed her eager flit, running to keep up, as her green dragon just lazily flew beside them. Then, she fund it. The green flit dug through the sands alittle, then layed her clutch of nine eggs. She rolled one, a large, aside for her owner, who wanted a second flit. It imediatly hatched into a bronze, which was feed by a very surprised Anna. "Thank you, my emerald princess!" Anna teased, looking at the now sleeping bronze. "I'll call him...Aiji! For he is your beloved child!" ((ooc: it's japanese)) Then, they waited for others to come and pick out of the eight eggs left.

Emily flies into the beach area, heavily laden with her clutch. She tries to find her former nest site, but the sun and hot sand throw her into a daze. She lands in a sheltered
cove, and digs a hole. She sits in the hole, and lays. Two eggs,three eggs. And...stuck. Emily pushes hard, and out pops the last egg. She covers them with sand, and perches nearby, wanting more sun, and also to se the arrival of her mate.
If you should chance to happen on this secluded cove, the clutch is thus.

Elith glided in, landing in the water. Valor let go of the straps, and tumbled headfirst into the water. She vigorously worked her legs so that she was on the surface, then swam toward the beach. Elith paddled around, keeping an eye of her rider as she made it to shore.
The sand was warm, the sea foaming around her ankles. Valor lay down, covering her hair with sand, then checking her belt pouch. She had a store of numbweed, and some patches for covering. She hoped it would be enough. She fiddled with her toes, digging them into the sand, then letting the waves uncover them. R'ko was due to land quite soon. She decided not to stand up, because of what had happened last time.
