Though he'd known that there was a greenrider named Daneil, he hadn't expected her to be his Danny . . . but he couldn't mistake that voice. Or screech.
"Danny?" Then recognition, full recognition, appeared in his cloudy eyes, and he swung around to face his girlfriend.
"It's D'van, and that's Brath. Danny, take a deep breath," he added, demonstrating by taking one himself.
Who's that?
Danny, my girlfriend.
Oooo, you had a girlfriend!
Shut up and eat, Brath!
Mrush squawked, and launched herself from D'van's arms. She didn't like this forward green, so ready to presume that they were already friends. They were not, and she intended to know this green better before they became friends.

D'van wrapped Danny in a bear-hug, and brushed the hair out of her eyes. He was still realising that Danny, HIS Danny, was here, and in his arms again. The last time he had held her, she had been leaving to come here, as a candidate. She had been crying, and D'van felt like he might cry himself now, with joy. He didn;t care that crying was 'unmanly', and fit for 'babies' only, but Danny was his baby.
So much love, I think the Weyr's going to burn.
Oh, shut up, Brath. I haven't seen her in, coming up on three Turns.
You don't expect me to fly that, do you?
What?
That thing, with the insatiable appetite. The green over there.
Don't call my Danny's dragon a thing!
I'll call her whatever I like, D'van. I outrank her.
Ah, but she not only is older than you, but bigger. She also has the added advantage of being Danny's dragon.
D'van lifted Danny's chin firmly, and kissed her softly.
