D'niel slowly slid off the bronze neck, and winced slightly when she took his hand. However, he wouldn't outwardly show how much it hurt. He'd probably face much worse as a wingrider later in weyrlife.

Alright... D'niel said, following as calmly as the burnt hand would allow. He listened, and nodded when she told him to gritt his teeth. Obeying, he tried to calm himself...
However, he took a sharp intake of breath when he felt the rush of cold water hit the bleeding hand. He squinted harshly, blinking back tears. He wouldn't cry. He could handle it...
After a second, he felt the blanket about his shoulders. It helped, as the rush of water sent shivers down his spine.
Calm down, love. I'll live. he told the nervous bronze. Elitarith nodded, his tail still twitching nervously.
D'niel looked up at Rinali. "Will it ever get better?" he asked, trying to keep the pain out of his voice.
