Their butts look that way because it is a normal result of an authentic "old school" paddling. The wood is hard, and the school administrator gives a swing with full arm motion and strength. The speed of the paddle is very fast, and the buttocks must absorb the significant weight striking across the crowns of their cheeks. Each swat lands on the same spots and is more painful than the previous swat, and by the fifth swat it is like a branding iron. A paddling typically leaves very colorful bulls-eye bruises that can take many days to fade away.

Do not underestimate the potential of a small hardwood paddle used for a very sound spanking on the bare behind. This compact implement can be applied with sharp force, focusing the punishment on the same spots as the school paddle, and the number of spanks is typically much more than just 5. The result will be the same bulls-eye marks, and with possible blisters on the crowns of the cheeks.
