I am sure it did. Her mother was the disciplinarian in her family. She was the oldest of five children. All five were spanked up into their teens.

When Bella Karuso was the trainer for the girls' gymnastics, it was reported he also spanked the girls at his training ranch when the girls did not do what they were supposed to do.
