I am 26 now but it happened to me I was also scheduled to get licks with the paddle by the cheer coach she had a new assistant coach I was the center of attention to I got the five licks in the coaches office in the field house a athletic building for the sports teams to practice indoors including cheerleading yes she focused on me for the reason she positioned me bent over hands on knees and said this is how you position the young ladies then she gave me five taps the a hard lick on my lowest bottom and told her to hit here hard you want the paddler to be accurate and knowing how hard a lick to give as not to bruise or strike a wrong area Later I got paddled by her she did it correctly I loved being a cheerleader . Females coached girls athletic teams including cheerleading the main problem was both were male

Just because one person liked the idea of being made a model for teaching how to paddle a student, it doesn't make it a good practice. If this coach needed to teach it, he could have explained it to the new guy without a live model, or asked the student beforehand if she wanted to participate in the demonstration.
Then there's the problem of male coaches paddling a girl. Was it really a "clinical" demonstration, or were they enjoying themselves a bit too much? We don't know, do we?
I remember a school I went to where a male coach paddled 3 girls in the girl's dressing room just before school let out that day. One girl was hysterical and looked traumatized by it. The coach got fired because, even in the old days, there were some schools that had higher standards of regulation with the use of corporal punishment.
I wouldn't feel the least bit guilty explaining this to "Kelli".

I agree I was 12 and a middle school cheerleader when that paddling happened it was after a hard practice we were wearing our cheer blouses and cheer panties for practice it was on Matt’s so a male coaching us would be embarrassing even in high school level and I also cheered in high school . We lived in a farming community in Alabama my name was called after practice by the coach for swats in the locker room after practice her office was in the locker room two other girls were going to get the paddle after me . I did cry loud after my paddling but that was normal for me I was a cry baby but it wasn’t traumatic it would be traumatic if the coaches were male . For the record I grew up on a farm my husband and I farm and have three daughters.
