That can not be a serious question!

The hairbrush has been a favorite maternal disciplinary tool for generations. My mom spanked us with one, and I our kids and two of my daughters have started using one on my grandchildren when they need that type of discipline.

I suppose it started because it is convenient. Most mothers have a brush and they make an ideal paddle for over knee spanking -- delivering a reasonable but memorable sting at all ages.

The hairbrush is also good because it is innocuously portable. When we went out, especially on long road trips, I made sure the kids saw me slip the spanking hairbrush into my purse. If things got a little sketchy I would say things like “please check my purse and see if I remembered the hairbrush.” Worked like a charm.

During my childhood in the fifties and sixties (and several decades before) representatives of the Fuller Brush Company went door to door selling high quality brushes and other household items. I am sure my mom is not the only mother who acquired her spanking hairbrush that way -- like in this old time comic strip I saw on Quora.....
