I think I did not cooperate all that well, as my recollection is being picked up . However, when I was thirteen spankings resumed, and this time as I explained before, mostly out of my mother's concern about behavior. Mom did the spanking. But, as mentioned, by this time I had been properly raised to do what my parents insisted on, and after maybe a brief protest about it, I got over her lap when told to. My mother was Jewish and she's the one who spanked me. I understand Father spanked my brother (older) at least once, but by the time my mother stopped (because "you're getting too big and I'm getting too old") it seems this was something he wasn't willing to do. Although there is no strict ban on spanking, they tend to take the approach of modern parenting. Although more likely to spank this attitude caries over into Conservative, and even some Orthodox.
