The truth about spanking is that it works, in part, because one can't make the sting go away immediately. Cold water, carbocaine and other local anesthetics, of course, would help but they aren't feasible for most kids.

I doubt that the cold cream did much more than earn her slaps from mom and increase the smarting and tingling in her bottom. Apparently the extras conveyed the message that she is not to mess with mom's handiwork. Fair enough. I am glad that it was not a repeat visit from your hairbrush!

It is a bit amusing that it was the smell that revealed her secret. No easy way to cover that up. Did she try to go outside or perhaps to cook something smelly?
