Great idea to get a copy for your school library.

Even unspanked kids can relate to Ping's woes onboard the ship. Being kept under a basket, for example, can easily be imagined. I suspect it will make for very interesting discussions of such topics as running (swimming in the story) away from your parents and the safety they provide; obeying parents and teachers; coming in last in a competitive game; and the justice and fairness of consequences for misbehavior.

If you discuss Ping's adventure, I hope you will let us know what their reactions are.
