While I'm intrigued by the idea, I have never seen a person that age get swatted on the behind by their parent and threatened with more when they get home, even just a mother joking around with her son or daughter, though I'm sure that must happen. My obvious conclusion is that I will likely never see such a thing. You were witness to a very rare event, the kind many spankos would wish to see. Although it is now outlawed and under certain circumstances punished by the law (in germany), it is still more common than many people think. And when it comes to consent, if there are 1-3 quick slaps on the bottom in the parking lot, there is very often with smile or nod of approval (especially among those over 40). Since I living now in the States and spank my girls lot and selv get spankings and after this the girls are like angels, I can only say that it is right. I will continue to discipline my daughters or have them disciplined by others if I or others think they need it, and I know they need it as much as I do. A good scream combined with a nap or bedtime will drive any stubbornness out of the house. Even though in the U.S spanking is legal, be careful -- there is a lot of dissent. I am also not sure discussion of spanking children is that welcome on this page. I have known people from Germany interested in spanking, and have talked with them about it. All of them were under the impression that spanking kids is common in the USA, which is why they wanted to talk to me. None of them had ever gotten a spanking or seen one. I've told them about my experiences, that spanking was pretty common in my youth, but it is mostly just a punishment for small children here these days, and even that is controversial. In the last several decades at least, I don't know any teenagers who get spanked, but it could be happening under the radar more than we know. Whatever the reality is behind closed doors, the chances of seeing a parent swat a teenager in public, and say anything that implies more when they get home, is tiny, tiny, and tiny.
