I always assumed our grandparents couldn't spank us, until one time when my sister and I were visiting at our maternal grandmother's house without our parents there, and my sister was resisting being put to bed. Our grandmother handled my sister's defiance the same way our mother would have.

Our school allowed spankings, but only by our principal. They very rarely happened and we never knew of a girl being sent to our principal's office for a spanking, only a boy.

Aunts, uncles and babysitters? No way! Neighbors? Forget it!

When I was in school, more boys were paddled than girls, but girls (including yours truly) got their fair share of paddlings. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

But spankings were rarely resorted to, and I suppose none of us ever misbehaved badly enough to be sent to the principal for one. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
