If my mom decided we had earned a dose of the hairbrush, you knew you were in for a world of pain. Her wooden spoon spankings hurt plenty but nothing like going over her knees for that brush. Just the mention of it would have me tearing up because she would wear your butt out with that thing.

Belt or strap from my dad or grandad was the absolute worst though and would leave you welted and swollen not even wanting to try and touch your butt for awhile.
