There are two main stages where the spankimgs i got seemed to change, becommming more serious as i got older.

1st change (around and 7 or 8)
I remember what i think was my first real hard spanking around this age.

For throwing food at the lunch table, Dad had me stand up, face away from him and he landed a guess about 6 huge whacks on me. Only open hand on my bottom, but boy i was smacked hard

I knew what was happening having been smacked before. But think this was my first big spanking. Before might have been single swats to grab my attention.

From that point i knew getting whacked was a big deal

2nd change (about age 12)

Went thru a real brat stage age 11-12 and these couple of years i was smacked heaps of times.

Imagine my parents just got sick of this, and decided hand smacks were no longer effective on an older kid.

So for some repeated offence (i forget details of the crime) Dad introduced me to a yardstick.

I remember being made to bend over and Dad whacked me like a headmaster might cane a roudy boy. Those just had me bawling from the pain, and fixed my conduct good and proper.

There were yardstick sessions well into my teen years, but much less frequent

When a dysfunctional culture of child abuse has been developing in a country for a long time, there is no surprise that torture of war prisoners etc is used for various reasons. Why spanking children with these hard and heavy implements have been acceptabel is a mystery. No sound parent wants to do such unless it has been a duty or something. You cannot blame the Bible because in the New Testament it isnÂ´t promoted.
