 I think the spankings most of us got as children were very painful events that we really hated at the time. We absolutely never wanted it to happen. For some it was also an experience full of shame, and something so embarrassing we did not want anyone to know that we were bad and got punished on the bare bottom. It was effective as discipline because it scared us into obedience and hoping to stay out of trouble. It often had more impact than just as a deterrent — but the negative opens up a can of worms that spanking advocates don't want to acknowledge.

It's interesting that what is hated as a child can become a pleasant obsession, even a craving, when one becomes an adult. I believe that is what fuels so much fantasy presented as fact here online in the relative safety of anonymity. In today's culture, if there's a motive to lie, then why would people not take advantage of the opportunity?
