I learned that it is a method of training a child. To prevent them from exploring boundaries and rules, parents give thec child one memorable spanking. The parents test the child to see if they will listen, and when they fail which he will always do, the child receives the spanking. After this memorable spanking, the child understand an important boundary that he should not cross. Curious if anyone ever received one.
